Hi, I’m Matt Simpson. I’m a freelance writer and editor. I grew up in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and then attended Trinity College in Connecticut, where I graduated magna cum laude with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. From there, I went to Boston University, where I earned a Ph.D. focusing on early modern political thought and held the University Professors’ Modernity Fellowship. I taught at Luther College in Iowa and was chair of the philosophy department. Then, I taught political theory and US government in the political science department at the University of New Mexico. I’ve published two academic books, and I write for The New Republic, The Washington Post, and other publications. I also regularly appear on TV and radio to discuss US and state politics. I live on the beautiful Connecticut shoreline. Thank you for visiting!
